₹4,468 Crore Investment Proposals Secured in Tourism & Hospitality Sector at GIS Bhopal

The Global Investors Summit (GIS) Bhopal held on 24-25th Feb 2025, marked a significant milestone for Madhya Pradesh’s tourism and hospitality sector, securing investment proposals worth ₹4,468 crore. The event, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, showcased the state’s immense tourism potential through the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Pavilion, attracting investors, industry leaders and stakeholders.

The Tourism Summit at GIS Bhopal on Day 2 was attended by Union Tourism Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Tourism, Culture and Religious Trust & Endowments Minister (Independent Charge) Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, Actor Pankaj Tripathi, Principal Secretary Tourism, Culture, Religious Endowment Department and Managing Director Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board Sheo Shekhar Shukla and other eminent guests. The summit highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s vast tourism potential, securing key investment proposals and emphasizing sustainable and cultural tourism growth. Industry leaders and stakeholders discussed strategies to boost infrastructure, adventure tourism, and heritage conservation in the state.

Madhya Pradesh presents limitless opportunities and vast potential for tourism investment. Madhya Pradesh not only provides an exceptional wildlife tourism experience but also actively fosters environmental conservation and the principle of coexistence said Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.

Union Tourism Minister Shri Shekhawat stated that Madhya Pradesh holds immense potential for investment in the tourism sector, standing at the gateway of vast opportunities.

Minister Shri Dharmendra Lodhi said, “Madhya Pradesh has introduced investor-friendly policies in the tourism sector and is fully committed to offering all essential facilities, benefits and support to investors. The state has also emerged as a premier destination for film production, with several blockbuster movies recently filmed here.”

Actor Pankaj Tripathi, sharing his experiences of shooting in Madhya Pradesh, said, “My connection with Madhya Pradesh existed long before I became its brand ambassador. There is no need to travel abroad for tourism—everything is right here in Madhya Pradesh.”

Principal Secretary Sheo Shekhar Shukla gave a presentation on the state’s historical and cultural tourism features, tourism projects, and investment opportunities. He elaborated on the attractive benefits available to investors under the Tourism Policy 2025 and Film Tourism Policy 2025, including a transparent single-window system for approvals, available land parcels, ultra-mega projects, road, rail, and air connectivity, as well as upcoming PPP (Public-Private Partnership) projects.

Additional Managing Director Bidisha Mukherjee expressed gratitude to all attendees and said, “At the Global Investors Summit (GIS), the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board signed six MoUs to strengthen women’s safety, adventure tourism, cultural preservation, and infrastructure development. Notable agreements include a partnership with MakeMyTrip to establish Pink Toilets in Orchha for women travelers and an MoU with IndiaHikes to develop new trekking routes and adventure tourism. Alchemy Cruise Lines will launch a Narmada River cruise to the Statue of Unity, while IndiGo will support tourism development at Gwalior Fort. Additionally, an agreement with UN Women aims to promote gender equality through awareness programs, and Knowledge Marine & Engineering will develop the Narmada Cruise Line Project. These initiatives reinforce Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive tourism.”

₹4,468 Crore Investment Proposals Secured in Tourism and Hospitality Sector during GIS: Madhya Pradesh has received investment proposals worth over ₹4,468 crore in the tourism and hospitality sector during the summit. These investments are aimed at expanding tourism infrastructure, including cruise tourism, film production, hotels & resorts, water parks, golf courses and ultra-mega projects.

Key investment proposals include:

* Ayodhya Cruise Lines – ₹70 crore investment proposal for cruise tourism projects in Madhya Pradesh.

* Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd. – ₹100 crore for cruise tourism, houseboats, and water sports.

* Jehan Numa Group of Hotels – ₹18 crore for a premium hotel in Mandu.

* Amazon Prime, Hollywood Projects, Zee5 & Others – ₹300 crore investment in film production.

* Treasure Group – ₹600 crore for ultra-mega projects, including a luxury resort in Khandwa, a mini golf course & resort near Khajuraho, and a golf course & luxury resort near Sanchi.

* Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL) – ₹1,960 crore for five new hospitality units in national parks, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Pench.

* ITC Hotels Pvt. Ltd. – ₹250 crore for the development of Lunera Castle Heritage Hotel, ITC Dhar, and ITC Bhopal.

* Imagica World Entertainment Ltd. – ₹200 crore for a water park near Indore.

* MRS Group – ₹200 crore for luxury boutique projects in Panna, Rewa and Chanderi.

* Neemrana Hotels – ₹20 crore for the re-development of Raja-Rani Mahal in Chanderi

* Oberoi Group – ₹450 crore for a new hospitality unit at Rajgarh Palace, Khajuraho.

* Evolve Back Resorts – ₹150 crore for a wellness resort near Panna Tiger Reserve.

* Hilton Group – ₹200 crore for two new hotel units in Jabalpur & Bhopal with 254 rooms.

* IndiGo Airlines – Expansion of tourism facilities at Gwalior Fort.
