Thrill, mystery, and suspense come together in perfect harmony in the play “A Perfect Murder”! This Marathi adaptation of a famous Hollywood film has made a significant impact on the stage, captivating audiences with its gripping storyline and intriguing twists.
The first performance of this Marathi adaptation of Sir Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece was staged on December 21, 2018, at Gadkari Rangayatan, Thane, and it was a houseful success! The overwhelming response from the audience established the play’s presence in the Marathi theater world.
In the initial shows, Pushkar Shrotri portrayed the husband, Dr. Shweta Pendse played the wife, and Satish Rajwadetook on the role of Inspector Ghaarge. As the play progressed, depending on actor availability, Pushkar Shrotri switched between playing the husband and the inspector, while Aniket Vishwasrao stepped into the role of the husband.
In an extraordinary turn of events, the character of the inspector was later portrayed by a woman! After delivering a powerful performance as the wife for the first 85 shows, Dr. Shweta Pendse took a brief break due to personal reasons. Upon her return, she made a bold transformation, stepping into the strong and dynamic role of Inspector Ghaarge. This rare occurrence in Marathi theater marked a significant milestone where an actress played two vastly different roles in the same production.
