Carrying forward the legacy of artistry from her mother, Shanta Apte, actor Nayana Apte has carved her own distinct identity through her journey in films, theater, dubbing, and various other endeavors. With her endeavors earning her success and fame, actress Nayana has overcome numerous obstacles. Her journey through life and art has certainly not been devoid of challenges. Now, as this journey takes a unique turn, the opportunity for audiences to witness and appreciate her artistic voyage is presented through ‘AmritNayana’.
As the senior actor celebrates her 75th birthday and completes 70 years in the industry, a befitting tribute is being organized in Mumbai under the banner of ‘AmritNayana, which will be open to the public free of charge.
The event will be held at the Kalidas Natya Mandir in Mulund under the auspices of “Sawai Gandharva” and “Sanskruti Seva Nyas” on Saturday, February 24. The programme will include three sessions, with the first session featuring theatrical performances, monologues, and Kathak dance recitals. The event will witness the participation of esteemed artists such as Arvind Pilgaonkar, Pt. Mukund Marathe, Gnyanesh Pendharkar, Nilakshi Pendharkar, Aparna Aparajit, Gayatri Dixit, Akash Bhadsavale, Atharva Gokhale, Swarali Garge, Praveen Kumar Bharde, Makarand Kundle, and Aditya Panvalkar.
In the second session, Nayana will be felicitated by dignitaries and her presence will illuminate the event. Renowned figures from the Marathi theater industry will also be present. Senior organ player Makarand Kundle will be honored with the ‘K.A. Kirloskar Lifetime Achievement Award in Music and Theater.’ Likewise, Ashok Samel, a senior playwright, director, and actor, will be bestowed with the ‘Natwarya Prabhakar Panashikar Lifetime Achievement Award,’ and he too will be honored during the event. The event will be presided over by Padma Bhushan Rajdatta, while Vijay Gokhale, Vinay Yedekar, director Veerendra Pradhan, and senior actress Rajnibai Joshi will be in attendance. The unveiling of Shanta Apte’s autobiography and the cover reveal of Nayana’s biography will also take place during this event.
In the third session, senior journalist Mangala Khadilkar will conduct an insightful interview with Nayana. Renowned reporter Amey Ranade will oversee the entire event, while the publication program’s request and organization will be handled by Tapsya Neve and management by Rakesh Talgavkar. The unique event will commence at 4pm. Complimentary passes will be available at the theater four days prior to the event.
