Actor Aadesh Chaudhary who has done many TV shows like Diya Aur Baati Hum and Doli Armaanon Ki, says that mental health issues are being discussed today, and people are more proactive in getting help. He adds that social media platforms have fuelled the rise of mental health concerns.
“Since the Covid outbreak, I feel like mental health and depression have taken centre stage, and many people are struggling. With the rise of platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and reels, it seems that more mental health issues have emerged. People tend to overthink seeing others doing various things, and it has increased significantly since the popularity of these platforms,” he says.
He adds, “Since the advent of social media, sharing has increased significantly. In the past, there were mainly newspapers, with very few news channels. Now, with platforms like Instagram, the routine involves checking the phone right after waking up, and there’s a constant exposure to both positive and negative aspects of everything throughout the day.”
Ask him how he takes care of his mental health, and he says, “Well, I engage in a morning walk and breathing exercises, and whenever negative thoughts arise, I consciously work to turn them into positive ones. I constantly observe my thoughts, actively telling myself what to focus on and restraining my mind. Despite insecurities and challenges, I make a deliberate effort to stay positive. Meditation and early morning walks are part of my routine, and I consistently monitor and manage my thoughts.”
