Actor Chandan Roy Sanyal to Portray Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

The much-awaited Bengali film Binodiini – Ekti Natir Upakhyan, produced by Dev Entertainment Ventures, recently unveiled its poster at Vinodini Theater, formerly known as the iconic Star Theater in Kolkata. The event was graced by renowned filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee. The poster features actor Chandan Roy Sanyal in the transformative role of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, a revered saint and spiritual guru.

Jointly produced by Pramod Films and Dev Entertainment Ventures, the movie is set for a statewide release in Maharashtra on January 23.

The movie narrates the inspiring yet heart-wrenching journey of a young girl from the red-light district of North Kolkata who carves a successful career in theater. Known as Nati Binodini, she overcame numerous hardships with resilience and determination to create a unique identity for herself.

Director Ram Kamal Mukherjee brings Binodini’s story to life, showcasing her struggle and triumph in a male-dominated society. The film explores her journey through the dynamic yet oppressive theater culture of 19th-century Bengal, emphasizing her rich legacy of music and drama.

Binodiini is more than just a biopic. It is a tribute to the indomitable spirit of women who dream big and persevere against all odds. Chandan Roy Sanyal’s portrayal of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa adds depth to the story. Speaking about the project, Mukherjee said, “It was a pleasure working with Rukmini on this project. I hope audiences experience her brilliance in this role.”

Dev Entertainment Ventures remarked, “Bringing the life and times of Binodini Dasi to the screen was a monumental task. We’ve poured our hearts into this project and are eagerly awaiting its release.”

Actor Chandan Roy Sanyal shared his thoughts, “When Ram Kamal Mukherjee first approached me for this role, I thought he was joking. Portraying Ramakrishna was incredibly challenging, but Mukherjee’s guidance made it seamless. This has been one of the most layered roles of my career, and I am deeply honored to have been chosen for it.”

The film features an ensemble cast, including Rahul Bose, Kaushik Ganguly, Mir, Chandreyee Ghosh, and Om Sahani. The story, screenplay, and dialogues are written by Priyanka Poddar, with research by Abhira Chakravarti. Soumik Halder serves as the DOP, while the celebrated music duo Sourendro-Soumyojit has composed the music. Tanmoy Chakraborty is the art director, and the film is edited by Pranoy Dasgupta. Costumes are designed by Suchismita Dasgupta.

Binodiini sheds light on untold stories of women and the sacrifices they make in the pursuit of their dreams. The film is set to release nationwide on January 23, 2025.
