A unique update has emerged about the rehearsals of Shankar Jaykishan, an upcoming Marathi play directed by Suraj Parasnis. Typically, rehearsals for Marathi plays happen in Mumbai–Pune or somewhere within Maharashtra based on artists’ availability. But this time, the rehearsals are being held in Hyderabad, surprising theatre lovers.
The reason behind this unusual decision is just as special. Mahesh Manjrekar, who plays a lead role in the play, is currently shooting an important South Indian film in Hyderabad. To ensure that juggling between the film shoot and play rehearsals does not affect the quality of the play, this decision was taken. Manjrekar discussed the situation with the play’s actor–producer Bharat Jadhav. To maintain the play’s quality and ensure smooth rehearsals, Bharat Jadhav immediately agreed and made arrangements for the entire team to rehearse in Hyderabad.
As a result, the play’s team has been stationed in Hyderabad for several days now, conducting intensive and disciplined rehearsals both on set and inside vanity vans. Notably, popular Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, known for his powerful performances, visited the team during rehearsals, interacted with everyone, and extended his best wishes. Such large-scale logistical planning for a single play is rarely seen in Marathi theatre.

Currently, Mahesh Manjrekar is literally working double shifts—shooting the South Indian film during the day and rehearsing Shankar Jaykishan in the evening. His speed, dedication, and passion have infused fresh energy into the entire team. His love for theatre is remarkable. In one interview, he had said, “Theatre is my first love." The ongoing rehearsals in Hyderabad clearly prove those words true through his actions.
Seeing his commitment, the rest of the team is also feeling deeply motivated. With the support of Bharat Jadhav and the entire technical and artistic crew, everyone is working wholeheartedly to make the play even more powerful. Moving the rehearsals to Hyderabad reflects the team’s strong attachment to the production and their professionalism. Such rehearsal practices, rarely seen in Marathi theatre, have only increased the audience’s curiosity.
Produced by Bharat Jadhav Entertainment and directed by Suraj Parasnis, the play is written by Virajas Kulkarni, with songs by Kshitij Patwardhan and music by Ajit Parab. The lead cast includes Shivani Rangole, Bharat Jadhav, and Mahesh Manjrekar.
