Mrinal Kulkarni expresses her gratitude and joy for being honored with the Best Supporting Artiste Award for her portrayal of Jijau Aaisaheb (the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) in the film Subhedar. The esteemed award was conferred upon her at the Maharashtracha Favourite Kon? Awards 2023.
Reflecting on her achievement, she shares, “Coming from a generation immersed in the tales of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s history, valor, and sovereignty, I have always been captivated by his era. As an individual, I’ve harbored a deep fondness for delving into the essence of Maharaj’s legacy. However, as an actor, I am profoundly gratified that portraying a part of Shivrajya has significantly enriched my work.” The prestigious event, hosted by Zee Talkies, is set to be telecast on February 18, at 7 pm.
Mrinal further elaborates, “Receiving not just one, but two awards is truly humbling. The first award, chosen by the audience, recognizes my portrayal of Jijau Aaisaheb in the movie Subedar. The second award acknowledges my depiction of Jijabai, the revered mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Immersing myself in the character of Jijabai holds a significance that is also like an award itself.”
She reflects, “Being bestowed with this award from Zee Talkies signifies earning a place in the hearts of the audience. Delving into the persona of the woman who orchestrated the inception of Shivrajya, I am inspired by her unwavering strength and courage, attributes that continue to resonate with me.”
