Amritanjali Festival of Classical Dance 2024: A  Celebration of Bharatanatyam

Prepare to be mesmerized by the grace and elegance of Bharatanatyam as the Amritanjali Festival returns for another spectacular edition in 2024. Hosted by Dr Shashikala Ravi, the Founder Director of Amritanjali School of Bharatanatyam in Pune, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable showcase of classical dance performances by esteemed artists.

Kalaimamani Roja Kannan: Hailing from Chennai and serving as the President of ABHAI (Association of Bharatanatyam Artists of India), Roja Kannan is a powerhouse of talent. Renowned as one of the leading Acharyas in Bharatanatyam, she will present “Magic of Margam,” captivating audiences with her mastery of the art form. Additionally, Roja Kannan will conduct a Bharatanatyam workshop on April 5 and 6, offering enthusiasts a rare opportunity to learn from a legend.

Guru Dr Sucheta Bhide-Chapekar: A recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy award, Dr Sucheta Bhide-Chapekar is a stalwart in the world of Bharatanatyam. Alongside her daughter disciple, Mrs. Arundhati Patwardhan, and granddaughter, Sagarika Patwardhan, she will present “Parampara,” showcasing the rich legacy of Bharatanatyam passed down through generations. With over 50 years of experience, Dr Sucheta Bhide-Chapekar’s contribution to the art form is unparalleled.

Dr Shashikala Ravi: As the Convenor and Coordinator of the Festival, Dr Shashikala Ravi will take the stage to present “Omkarakarini,” an exploration of the Universal Divine Goddess. A distinguished Bharatanatyam artist herself, Dr. Ravi is dedicated to promoting classical dance forms and nurturing young talent. Her contributions extend beyond performance, as she hosts various festivals and events to support the dance community.

Renowned Guru Shama Bhate, also a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy award, will grace the event as the Chief Guest, adding prestige to an already illustrious lineup.
