Earlier, males were not into makeup or beauty as much as females were. Beauty and skin care routines were largely associated with women. Men’s involvement in these practices was minimal, often limited to basic hygiene products. However, the modern man is increasingly embracing complex skin care regimens. Today, it's not uncommon to see men incorporating a variety of products into their daily routine, from sunscreens and face washes to moisturisers and exfoliants. This shift indicates a growing awareness of the importance of skin care not only for appearance but also for health.
Men don’t just stick to the basics, they also explore advanced skin care methods. Procedures such as microneedling, fractional lasers, chemical peels and Q-switch lasers are becoming more popular among men looking to address issues such as scarring, pigmentation and overall skin texture. In addition, anti-aging treatments including HIFU,
Botox and dermal fillers are gaining recognition as men strive to maintain a youthful appearance and address the signs of ageing.
One notable trend is the use of chin fillers and facial fillers specifically designed to enhance male features. These procedures are tailored to create a tighter, more rugged appearance, reflecting the wider acceptance of aesthetic enhancements among men.
The rise of social media has played a significant role in changing the approach to cosmetic procedures. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have not only highlighted the benefits of skin care and aesthetic procedures, but have also normalised their use among men.
Influencers and celebrities openly discussing their beauty routines and treatments have helped break down the stigma around men's grooming and self-care. Also, Brands are increasingly targeting men with products and treatments designed specifically for them. This growing market reflects a wider acceptance and understanding that beauty and self-care are not limited by gender.
Men’s attitudes towards cosmetic procedures are clearly evolving. As societal norms continue to shift, men are increasingly embracing skin care and beauty treatments that were once considered the preserve of women. The beauty industry’s growing focus on men's skin care needs further underscores this shift and marks a significant shift in how beauty is perceived and practiced across genders.
