Sachiin Kumbhaar is one of the best and leading anchor, host & moderator and vo artiste in the country who has a phenomenal portfolio and clientele. As an anchor and host, he has achieved quite many accolades and some of his leading clients in the entertainment industry include the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus Hotstar, Miss India and many more high-profile brands. Over the years, he has established his niche as an anchor, moderator, voice-over actor and he certainly commands a lot of credibility and respect which he has always deserved. While he has done almost everything related to entertainment, acting was something he didn’t dwell upon despite multiple recommendations from his fraternity colleagues. He seems to be touching the sky and scaling to new heights as he’s started his journey as an actor as well. Sachiin is playing a pivotal role in the short film ‘Tu Chal Main Aaya’.
While things might appear very easy and hunky-dory from outside as far as his acting stint is concerned, the reality is a lot different. Unfortunately, the actor in his initial days had to deal with racism which shattered his confidence as an actor. That’s when he decided to keep his acting ambitions aside to focus on his career as a host. However, destiny certainly had other plans for him and no wonder, he’s back where he certainly belongs. On being asked more about how a confident host, moderator & voice-over artiste lost his faith in himself as an actor and how things worked out once again for him, a happy and emotional Sachiin shares and we quote,
“I moved to India around 2011-2012 from Dubai. I came here and wanted to become an anchor, voiceover artiste and an actor as well. I remember it was 2014 when I went for an acting audition and I was told clearly on my face that they are looking for a fair individual. It completely put me off and since then till last year, I didn’t look into acting at all. The irony is this was an audition where I was called by the associates. This racism was something that completely dampened my vision as an actor.”
He further adds, “I have been told by many people over the years to focus on acting but I never took it up. However, the Producer of this project and also the casting director, Kashyap Chandhock is the one who got me back. He has been behind me for the past 6-7 years. We have been friends and he always had the belief in me that I should act. However, I somehow never paid time or attention to it. Whenever we met, he always insisted that I should act. Finally about last year, he called me and literally told me that he needs 3 days of mine for a short film. That’s how he pulled me into acting and it just opened doors for me. He is someone who believed in me without even seeing me and no wonder, it was a complete revelation for me. So yes, that’s how things happened for me once again in acting."
On being asked more about his role and character, shares, “I am known as a fashionable icon, always dressed up in tuxedos and uber cool outfits. However, my character here is exactly opposite. It is non-glamourous. I play an life insurance agent from the outskirts of Mumbai (Nalasopara) named Sanket Patil who is a conscious and under-confident, underdressed person. He hails from a lower middle class Maharashtrian family and his dream is to become a rich man one day and own a bungalow in Mumbai. It is poles apart from my real-life personality as an anchor. It is very close to my heart because it is a ‘Marathi mulga’ and hence I could also resonate with the character a lot. The debut is really special and close to my heart."
