Former news anchor Charrul Malik, who is currently seen in the TV show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, turned a year older on April 23. She shared that she is not someone to have a big celebration on her birthday but rather believes in retrospections.
She said, “I don’t have any birthday plans, and it’s not necessary to celebrate with a big pump and show. Sometimes, spending time at home with family feels really nice. It’s peaceful and brings a sense of calmness. My birthday ritual is to reflect on how I can become a better person each year.”
“As I grow older, I add another year to my life, so I think about the mistakes of the past year and how I can learn from them. I feel grateful for the chance given to me by God to come this far in life, so I want to continue spreading positivity and being happy. I always thank God for this beautiful life and pray for it to remain beautiful. My only goal is to not hurt anyone and to be someone who can help others, make them happy, and spread joy. I want to be the reason behind someone’s happiness, so that’s what I think about every year,” she added.
What about a birthday wish that you want to fulfill? “I just want to convey to everyone, including myself, that health is wealth. Staying healthy, both physically and mentally, is the most important thing. I aim to strengthen myself and maintain good health. Personally, I don’t crave materialistic things. I prefer having a handful of true friends, with whom I can have genuine, unfiltered conversations. Genuine people and good health, both physically and mentally, are all I desire. I don’t have any big aims in life; I just want to stay happy and positive. I feel grateful for everything I have achieved through hard work and my journey so far. I simply want to cherish every small moment in life and enjoy it to the fullest,” Charrul said.
Her first birthday wish is always from her twin sister Parul, and she added, “Sumit Awasthi, who is a consulting editor at NDTV and has worked with me, also wishes me as his birthday falls on the same day. So, we are birthday twins. Apart from them, my brother and dad always wish me well, along with the rest of my family. Family always comes first, and by 12 o’clock, everyone’s calls start coming in.”
Sharing her fondest birthday memories, she said, “Recently, it was celebrating on the set of Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hain! by cutting a cake. Last year, everyone on the set celebrated my birthday, and it was so much fun. Another memorable birthday moment was about three years ago, when I was in the media industry. Rupal Patel (Kokila Modi of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya fame) , who is like a sister and best friend to me, and who inspires me a lot, surprised me. She came to my office unexpectedly, and I had no idea she was coming. I was hosting my show, and when I came out, she gave me a tight hug. I was completely surprised because she’s usually very selective and doesn’t visit places quickly. But for loved ones, she’s full of life. We spent a good 3–4 hours, and it was the most unforgettable birthday ever. It’s a day I’ll always cherish because no one has ever surprised me like that before. Usually, it’s family who plans surprises, and you usually know about them in advance. But Rupal’s surprise visit will always stay in my heart.”
