Chinmayee Salvi is appearing before the audience in a new role through the serial “Sanai Choughade.” Her character, Sharvari Parab, is bold and carefree. Speaking about the role, the audition process, her preparation, co-actors, and her acting journey, Chinmayee shared some heartfelt thoughts.
“My character’s name is Sharvari Pramila Subhash Parab. Sharvari is a very pure, free-spirited, and cheerful girl. She is deeply connected to her family. By nature, she is very straightforward and speaks her mind. She doesn’t like talking behind people’s backs. Whether something is right or wrong, she always expresses her opinion clearly. She loves her family immensely.
In the serial, the Parab family is devoted to Swami and believes that whatever they have received in life is through Swami’s blessings, and they are content with it. Because they feel Swami is always with them, they never feel deprived of anything in life. Every member of the family is happy in their own way.
Sharvari is a graduate and the Rose Queen of M.D. College, which gives her a unique swag. She is currently looking for a job, but until she finds one, she helps her mother, Pama, in her tiffin business. She delivers tiffins on her scooty. In the serial, Sharvari’s scooty is named “Bebo,” and it holds a special place in her life. Her father works as a bus conductor, so Sharvari understands the value of hard work and responsibility. She believes in using her management skills and practical sense to support her parents and contribute to the family.
When I got the call for Sharvari’s role, I was overjoyed. After working in the Hindi serial “Wagle Ki Duniya” for nearly five years, I received this opportunity. I feel very fortunate to work in a Marathi serial again. I always wished to do a Marathi show with a role that audiences would remember for a long time, and I feel that Swami answered my prayers.
In the show, Sharvari and Jay are completely opposite characters. When these two characters come face to face, the chaos and fun that will unfold will be worth watching.
I didn’t have to prepare much for Sharvari’s character because she and I are quite similar. Like Sharvari, I’m also mischievous, talkative, and a bit dramatic. I enjoy taking care of my family and doing anything for them. However, one special preparation I did for this role was learning to ride a scooty, because Sharvari delivers tiffins to help her mother’s business. I was actually afraid of riding a scooty earlier, but keeping the character in mind, I learned it. Now I can confidently ride it even in crowded places, and that makes me very happy.
In my previous show, I played a girl who was around eighteen or nineteen years old. But Sharvari is much more mature and responsible. She is a graduate and has a different perspective on life. She has her own unique way of dealing with people, which makes this role even more interesting and fun for me to perform.
I have been receiving mixed reactions from the audience—both shock and surprise. For many viewers, it was a big surprise to see me move from a Hindi serial to a Marathi serial after so many years. Fans of the Marathi shows I previously worked in were very happy to hear this news. Even my Hindi-serial fans are excited. Some of them have said that they will start watching the Marathi show just to see my performance. That makes me very happy.
My co-actors and the production team are wonderful. Working with them feels like being at home. I’ve already become friends with many of them. I’m the kind of person who cannot work without talking and chatting with everyone. I’m very friendly, and I feel that with time I might even find a special best friend here on the set.
Talking about a memorable incident during the shoot—one day we were shooting a hospital scene. I, Jay, and Mac were shooting outside the hospital, and members of the production and channel team were present. Suddenly, a woman around fifty years old came forward from the crowd and said she wanted to take a photo with me. She said her son was with her and would take the picture. Our producer Raju Sir gave permission.
After the photo was taken, the woman blessed all of us warmly. She said, “Your serial will do very well. My blessings to all of you.” Hearing that, we were deeply touched. It was such a beautiful experience on the very first day of shooting, and I don’t think I will ever forget it.
So don’t forget to watch Sharvari in “Sanai Choughade,” every day at 8.30pm only on Zee Marathi.
