The teaser of the upcoming Marathi film Cup Bashi, directed by Vaibhav Ramkrishna Chinchalkar, has been officially launched. Blending traditional wedding customs with a contemporary perspective, the film is set to release across Maharashtra on 19 June.
Produced under the banner of Sukalp Chitra by Kalpak Sadanand Joshi and presented by Big Brain Productions’ Nilesh Ramgopal Rathi, Cup Bashi revolves around a unique and entertaining concept. The screenplay and dialogues have been written by Chetan Saindane.
The film marks the first-ever Marathi project to feature music by renowned veteran composer Uttam Singh. Lyrics are penned by Guru Thakur, while cinematography is handled by Balu Dahifale and editing by Ashish Mhatre. National Award winners Mandar Kamalapurkar and Shrikant Desai have worked as sound designer and look designer respectively.
The film stars Nirmiti Sawant, Pooja Sawant, debutant Rishi Manohar, Nayana Apte, Anant Jog, Rahul Ranade, Anand Ingale, Anand Kale, Chinmay Shintre and Uma Sardeshmukh in key roles.
The story revolves around the traditional custom of matching horoscopes before marriage. However, in a modern twist, the educated bride-to-be places an unusual condition before the groom’s family — the horoscopes of the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law must also match. What follows is a humorous and entertaining series of events that forms the crux of the film.
The teaser has already generated curiosity among audiences with its fresh storyline, witty dialogues and strong performances. The new pairing of Rishi Manohar and Pooja Sawant is also being seen as one of the highlights of the film.
