Maharashtra’s Cabinet Minister Dharamraobaba Atram was bestowed with the Best People Leader Award 2024 at the 16th Newsmakers Achievers Award. He shared the story of his struggles, recounting how he rose from Nagpur to become a beloved leader in Gadchiroli. He spoke of being held captive by Naxalites for 17 days and the transformative journey that ensued. Atram expressed profound gratitude for the recognition, having traveled 1400 kilometers to receive the award.
In Gadchiroli, he has given work to five thousand families in mining, and he remains committed to the welfare and employment of his village’s people.
The 16th Newsmakers Achievers Award was held on May 1 at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium in Mumbai, commemorating Maharashtra Day and Labor Day. The event, organized by Dr. Vaidehi Taman, celebrated several achievers, including Dharamraobaba Atram.
Notably, a biographical film titled “Dharamraobaba Atram - Dilon Ka Raja " chronicles his life, depicting the arduous 17-day ordeal in Naxalite captivity and his journey thereafter.
