The play Mazhya Aicha Patra Haravla Te Mala Sapadlaholds cherished memories for many. However, over time, both the play and the letter have faded away. Although letter writing has dwindled nowadays, the memories of some letters linger eternally in the mind. Actor Dilip Prabhavalkar still cherishes the memory of a letter written to him by Dr Shriram Lagoo, which continues to resonate with him.
After watching the play Hasvaphasvi, Dr Shriram Lagoo wrote a letter to Dilip Prabhavalkar to praise his acting. These memories continue to inspire him to perform well. In recognition of this, Prabhavalkar has organized a special event for theater enthusiasts, which has received an excellent response. His innovative recitation Patra Patri is currently being performed with great enthusiasm. Senior theater director Vijay Kenkre has joined him in this endeavor. The staging of Patra Patri, produced by Badamraja Productions, has generated great interest among theater lovers. The producers are Madhuri Gawande and Ninad Karpe.
Dilip Prabhavalkar said, “To bring the warmth and sense of personal connection from letter writing to the audience, we decided to stage ‘Patra Patri.’ These letters contain occasional and satirical writings. Each letter tells a story. We have chosen five such stories for recitation.” As characters Tatya Saheb and Madhavrao, Dilip Prabhavalkar and Vijay Kenkre recite the letters. The visual presentation is directed by Vijay Kenkre, with stage adaptation by Neeraj Shirvaikar. The music is by Ajit Parab, lighting by Sheetal Talpade, and costumes by Mangal Kenkre.
