Dr Jhanvi Vikas Sethi: I carry Vikas's memories with me

Two years after the passing of her actor-husband Vikas Sethi, Dr Jhanvi Vikas Sethi shares that though she has rebuilt her life while raising her children alone, there hasn’t been a day when she didn’t miss Vikas.  “Today, two years after Vikas’s passing, I feel that I have grown into a much stronger person. His absence is something I continue to live with every day, but I have also learned that life has to move forward, especially when you have children depending on you,” she said. Her children, she says, are both her greatest responsibility and her deepest source of strength. “My children are my biggest responsibility and my biggest strength. They are growing up fast, and at this stage, I want to make sure that they receive the best education, good values and a secure future,” she said.  She describes herself as deeply involved in every part of their daily lives. “I am very hands-on as a mother. I take care of their daily routine, schooling, health and emotional needs, while also making sure that they grow up surrounded by love and positivity,” she said. On the professional front, Jhanvi has been focused on building financial independence and stability for her family. “Professionally, I am working towards becoming financially independent and creating a stable foundation for my family. I am involved in business and financial work, and I am trying to build something of my own rather than allowing the circumstances of life to define me,” she said. But balancing that with motherhood, she admits, hasn’t come easily. “It has been challenging to balance work and motherhood, but I have learned to manage both with patience and determination,” she said. Reflecting on what being a single mother has taught her, she speaks candidly about the resilience the experience has demanded. “Being a single mother has taught me that you discover your real strength when you have no choice but to stand on your own. There are days when I miss Vikas terribly and wish he were here to share these responsibilities and see the children growing up,” she said.  Even so, she’s found a way to channel that grief into purpose. “But I also feel that the best way to honour his memory is to give our children a good life and keep moving forward with dignity,” she said. Looking at where she stands today, she sees her life as centred entirely around her children, her work, and the future she’s building for them. “My life today is about my children, my work and building a secure future. I carry Vikas’s memories with me, but I also want to create a future that he would be proud of,” Jhanvi added.
