Dr Mickey Mehta: Cleansing, regulating, and fortifying are the three-pronged approach we use

With over four decades of experience, Dr Mickey Mehta is not just a wellness expert—he is a movement. Known globally as a holistic health guru, Dr Mehta has helped redefine how India views healing, recovery, and preventive health. At the core of his expanding wellness ecosystem is his belief that healing must be both collaborative and compassionate. His work with leading hospitals isn’t just about credibility—it’s about creating bridges between traditional wisdom and modern science to offer patients a more complete path to recovery.

Speaking about his partnerships with renowned hospitals, Dr Mehta said, “We have our center at Tata Memorial Hospital, which we run absolutely not-for-profit. We are also partners with Jaslok Hospital, and many more plans will unfold as we move forward in areas such as disease prevention, primary ailment management, and supporting serious ailments on a case-to-case basis.”

He shared that he works on concepts like using breath, movement, food, and rest as medicine, along with rest and recreation, attitude, and thought processes. Talking about true healing, he stressed the need for regular massage, acupressure, acupuncture, lung empowerment, heart conditioning, food-based cleansing and purification, herb-based regulation, breath and movement, medication, rest, and strong nutrition.

He said, “We are able to support many medical conditions. Even serious or complex ailments stand a better chance of recovery, healing, and possible reversal—through absolute discipline. Cleansing, regulating, and fortifying are the three-pronged approach we use. Today, I’m happy to see many doctors advising their patients to practice yoga for immunity and vitality and for managing diabetes, anxiety, and asthma. It’s encouraging to see them recommending sports, physiotherapy for hypertensive patients, and exercises for joint coordination and psychoneuromuscular balance. These changes significantly improve patient recovery and make healing more targeted.”

As for his team, it consists of MD-level doctors in Ayurveda, naturopathy, and homeopathy, and supporting them are therapeutic yoga masters with over a thousand hours of teacher training programs and immense experience in managing ailments such as cardiac, gastrointestinal, neuro, diabetes, hypertension, orthopedic issues, etc.

He said, “Most ailments can be managed, supported, and helped to recover through these approaches. Our extended team includes neurophysiotherapists, aquatic physiotherapists, occupational therapists, Raga coaches, mental and emotional wellness experts, psychotherapists, counselors, nutritionists, and clinical nutritionists—the list goes on.”

The same integrated philosophy powers ANTAR, the digital wellness ecosystem co-founded with his daughter, Karishma Mickey Mehta. “Today, CIMR—an initiative of Medanta and Acharya Manish, alongside the AYUSH Ministry and ICMR—has evolved into an Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research. Supported by the Ayush Ministry and in conjunction with medical science, research papers are now being published that validate the existence and efficacy of alternate and complementary medicines in helping people recover and cure various diseases,” he said.

“At ANTAR—founded by my daughter Karishma Mickey Mehta—my team and I apply sciences and practices of ancient wisdom traditions and modern medical research to bring about a sea change in managing serious ailments. We personalize, individualize, and customize treatment based on the needs of the body, mind, age, gender, environment, and sometimes even blood group,” he added.

For Dr Mehta, wellness is not only physical—it’s energetic, spiritual, and environmental. “In many challenging cases, we also support the process with Jyotish Vidya, Vastushastra, and Feng Shui, wherever needed for complementary harmonious energy management,” he shared.
