The FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) Chennai Chapter hosted a dynamic and laughter-filled wellness session titled ‘Gut Feeling’ with internationally renowned gastroenterologist and global health educator, Dr Palaniappan Manickam (Dr Pal), on July 3, 2025, at the Museum Theatre, Egmore. This event, held under the visionary leadership of FLO Chennai Chairperson Niyati A Mehta, brought together FLO members and guests for an engaging dialogue on gut health and its vital link to overall well-being.
Dr Pal, known for blending science with satire, delivered a powerful talk that was both educational and entertaining. With his signature wit, he demystified medical jargon and shared practical health insights, often turning the session into a laughter therapy workshop.

From explaining the importance of Intermittent fasting to the ideal carbohydrate breakdown for Indian meals, Dr Pal simplified wellness like never before. He emphasized that melatonin, the sleep hormone, peaks at 2am, and hence, sleep by 10 PM is essential, especially for women, who require an additional hour of rest for hormonal balance. He cautioned against excessive screen time, encouraged drinking at least 2 litres of water daily, and stressed the role of meditation in managing cortisol levels.
Dr Pal, explained the dangers of social drinking, poor sleep, and unmonitored carb intake in his trademark humorous style. He also urged women to be unapologetically selfish about their health, stating, “Only if a woman is healthy can her entire family thrive.” he said.

The event was part of FLO Chennai’s 2025 theme “SPARKLE” – Strength, Passion, Ambition, Resilience, Knowledge, Leadership, and Excellence , which focuses on holistic empowerment across health, sustainability, skilling, and community development.
