What started as casual rallies with his kids has now grown into a full-blown obsession for Bollywood actor-producer Sohail Khan. Introduced to padel by his children, the sport quickly became a bonding activity — and soon, a personal passion. That passion has now taken a serious turn, with Sohail Khan stepping in as the proud owner of Khan Tigers, a team in the upcoming Season 3 of the World Padel League (WPL).
The WPL, co-founded by tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi, will take place from August 12–16, 2025, at the NESCO Center in Goregaon, Mumbai — right in the heart of India’s entertainment capital. This season, the league expands to six franchises and will feature 36 top international players, promising even more action, glamour, and high-octane sport.
“Playing any sport is a great way to channel one’s energy positively. It helps you build discipline, maintain a healthy body, and stay away from vices and distractions — that’s been true in my life too,” said Sohail Khan. “Growing up, squash was my go-to sport. It kept me focused. Now, my kids have inherited that same mindset. They were the ones who introduced me to padel — and they’re completely hooked.”
Khan, known for his roles in films like Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Tubelight, and Aryan (in which he played a boxer), says padel now plays a central role in his daily routine. “We play together, and it’s become a fun, competitive, and really addictive experience. Padel is fast, social, and surprisingly easy to pick up — it’s totally up my alley, and anyone’s.”
With the sport catching on quickly in India, Khan felt the time was right to turn his enthusiasm into commitment. “Associating with the World Padel League felt natural. I’ve always loved how sport and entertainment come together — whether it was with the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) or now the WPL. This league is a fantastic blend of energy, athleticism, and showbiz. The Khan Tigers are ready to roar. It’s going to be an action-packed season!”
