From India to the World: Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha Goes Global

From India to the world, Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha marks a significant cultural moment as it travels to Singapore, taking with it the powerful idea of the Swarajya Mindset, a philosophy rooted in self-belief, discipline, and collective responsibility.

On the auspicious occasion of welcoming the Hindu New Year through Chaitra Palavi 2026, Poornavaad Parivar, Singapore, will present this grand historical musical, curated and produced by Saisha Productions, Mumbai, on 5th April from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at CSC@Tessensohn, Singapore.

This acclaimed, award-winning production brings alive the inspiring life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj through a powerful blend of 45 original compositions, music, narration, and visual storytelling. The musical captures defining moments from the era of Swarajya, highlighting both celebrated and lesser-known warriors, the collective strength of the people, and Maharaj’s visionary leadership.

Speaking about the intent behind the presentation, narrator and director Padmashree Rao adds, “This presentation is not just about looking back at history but about understanding what it asks of us today. The idea of a Swarajya Mindset is central to this effort; it is about self-belief, discipline, and a sense of collective responsibility towards the nation. If the audience carries even a part of that thought with them, the purpose of this work is fulfilled.”

The musical brings to life defining chapters from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s journey through powerful compositions rooted in documented history. From the spiritual energy of paramparik gondhal (ballads) and the symbolic suryoday - Shivjanma, to the rise of Swarajya marked by Swarajyacha Toran, the narrative unfolds through landmark events such as the Pratapgad campaign, the daring raid on Lal Mahal, and the Surat expedition. It also pays tribute to both known and lesser-known warriors like Ramaji Pangera and Suryarao Kakde, alongside known warriors such as Baji Prabhu Deshpande, Tanaji Malusare.

Adding a contemporary dimension, the presentation highlights the intelligence and espionage network of Swarajya through the story of Bahirji Naik Jadhav—the master strategist and spy—bringing alive elements that resonate strongly with today’s global fascination for espionage narratives. Leading up to the grand Shivrajyabhishek, each performance is deeply anchored in historical research, blending authenticity with artistic expression to create an immersive and educational experience.

More than a retelling of history, the presentation is an effort to build and share the Swarajya Mindset with global audiences—encouraging individuals to reflect on the timeless management philosophies of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj that remain deeply relevant in today’s interconnected world.

The musical features performances by Nachiket Desai, Shrirang Bhave, Ketaki Bhave-Joshi, and Anil Nalawade. The concept, lyrics, music are crafted by Anil Nalawade, while the editing, direction and narration are led by Padmashree Rao, bringing together a cohesive and impactful artistic experience.

Sharing his perspective on the creation, writer-composer Anil Nalawade says, “Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha is not merely about recounting historical events. It is an attempt to bring forth the emotions, decisions, and values that shaped Swarajya. Through music and poetry, we aim to connect the audience with that spirit in a way that feels immediate and relevant.”

A special highlight of the evening is the ‘Shivsanskar Chitrakavya Art Exhibition’, featuring 150 curated works. The exhibition blends evocative poetry by Anil Nalawade with AI-led neural rendering visuals created by Padmashree Rao, offering audiences a unique visual and literary journey that bridges history with contemporary storytelling.

The programme will culminate with a grand ‘Shivrajyabhishek Ceremony’, designed to leave a lasting and powerful impression on every attendee.

More than a cultural presentation, the evening stands as a global invitation to experience Shivcharitra and embrace the Swarajya Mindset, beyond borders, across cultures, and into the future.
