The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA), a key initiative established by the Government of Maharashtra, modeled after NITI Aayog. This collaboration aims to enhance policy formulation and development strategies for the state of Maharashtra.
The Mou was signed in presence of Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis and Vice Chancellor of Gokhale Institute, Dr Ajit Ranade along with MITRA CEO Pravinsigh Pardeshi.
“The appointment of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics as a Lead Knowledge Institute by MITRA is a moment of pride for us. We will be focusing on taking Mahararashtra’s economy to 1 Trillion USD and also adding up more development oriented policies in the state. Along with that we will also be closely working in different sectors to achieve the goal of doubling GDP of the state as suggested by the Economic Advisory Committee of the chief minister.” The institute will act as an ‘Intellectual Think Tank’, added Dr Ranade.
CEO Praveensigh Pardeshi assured that both the institutions will give their best to achieve the goal of development of the state by means of research and innovative policies.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today, marking the beginning of a significant alliance between Gokhale Institute, a premier institution for economic and political studies, and MITRA, dedicated to advancing state-level governance and development through knowledge and innovation.
Under this MoU, Gokhale Institute will serve as a Lead Knowledge Institute, contributing its expertise in economics and public policy to support MITRA’s objectives. The partnership will focus on generating actionable insights, conducting research, and developing evidence-based recommendations to address key challenges and opportunities within the state. Other institutes appointed by MITRA are IIT Bombay, University of Mumbai and IIM Nagpur.
