It wouldn’t be wrong to say Sanjay and Binaiferr Kohli’s Happu Ki Ultan Platan is the portrait of comedy in the Indian TV industry. The show, which is produced under the Edit II banner, has completed nine years on-air, and is looking forward to completing another nine and beyond.
The show, which is produced under the Edit II banner, features Yogesh Tripathi, Geetanjali Mishra, Himani Shivpuri and Sonal Panwar, to name a few.
Happu catches his wife, Rajesh, stealing money from his purse and scolds her. Rajesh fires back, saying that if Happu earned more money or was a rich businessman, she wouldn’t need to steal. Feeling frustrated, Happu shares this incident with his friend Beni, who reveals a similar situation. He caught his wife, Bimlesh, trying to take money from his wallet, but luckily, the wallet was empty. Both Happu and Beni start dreaming about how life would be better if they were successful businessmen.
At the police station, Happu meets a man from the Met department who comes to file a complaint against his boss. During their conversation, Happu learns a piece of secret information—Kanpur is about to experience an extreme cold wave. Excited by the idea, Happu decides to start a winterwear business. He and Beni approach two moneylenders, Gappu and Chappu, for a loan of 50 lakh rupees, promising to return it with interest within five days. They even sign the paperwork for the loan.
However, their plan backfires when the information turns out to be wrong. Instead of a cold wave, a heatwave hits Kanpur, leaving Happu and Beni’s business in shambles. Gappu and Chappu demand their money back, revealing that the loan has a 32% monthly interest rate. Happu cannot repay the loan, and Gappu and Chappu threaten to sell his house to recover the money.
Amma pleads with Beni to sell his house and repay the loan so they can all live together in Happu’s house. But Beni refuses. Just when the house is about to be sold, the weather suddenly changes—a cold wave finally hits Kanpur. Everyone is overjoyed as their business is saved, and the house doesn’t have to be sold.
