The upcoming Zee Marathi show Lakshmi Niwas marks the return of another familiar face after many years. Harshada Khanvilkar is all set to appear in a never-before-seen role on the channel. Speaking about her character, Harshada shared, “My character’s name is Lakshmi. She is a middle-class homemaker who embodies the unconditional and equal love found in every family. For Lakshmi, her husband Srinivas, her children, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren always come first. As the story unfolds, viewers will see her primary focus is arranging the marriages of her two unmarried daughters and ensuring their happiness.”
She shared, “I have played many strong and bold characters in the past, but I had been manifesting a simple, relatable, and grounded role like this for a long time. I can confidently say that the universe answered my prayers through Lakshmi Nivas. For this role, I went through auditions and mock shoots, something I hadn’t done in years. Honestly, I tested for the role, and to my delight, I was selected. I had my doubts after the mock shoot; I wouldn’t say I gave an outstanding audition, as casting is a very critical aspect of any project. But Zee Marathi took a leap of faith, and when I learned I was finalized for the role, it took me some time to believe it. The news of playing Lakshmi brought immense joy and surprise to me."
She added, “Lakshmi Nivas is set to be a pioneer in many ways. It’s not just a story about a large family; it is a massive show with three interconnected families. Lakshmi and Srinivas’s family itself comprises 10-12 members, and beyond that, two other families play equally significant roles. This blend of multiple characters will make for a captivating viewing experience. Tushar Dalvi and I have known each other for years, but this is the first time we are working as co-actors. He is an exceptional artist, and I am learning so much from him. His natural acting style is inspiring. I also admire Akshaya, who I believe has one of the most beautiful faces on Indian television. I look forward to working with her and the entire Lakshmi Nivas cast every day.
She added, “About Lakshmi’s look, I believe every character should have a distinct appearance, and I’ve always received love for my on-screen looks. I think Lakshmi’s look will be surprising for the audience, and I hope they embrace it as they always have.”
Harshada said, “It’s been 12-13 years since I was last on Zee Marathi with Mazhya Priyala Preet Kalena in 2010. Returning after such a long gap is exciting, especially with a role of this kind.
