International Women’s Day: Actors pick the superwomen in their lives

Today, women embody independence and autonomy. It’s acknowledged that both men and women contribute equally to the well-being of the home and society. Each woman is unique, whether she resides at home or in the office. On the occasion of Women’s Day, Zee Marathi actors express their views on women empowerment and discussed the superwomen in their lives.

Vallari Viraj, Navari Mile Hiterla
For me, women empowerment means a woman who takes control of her own life, sets her own goals, is self-reliant, and never hesitates to voice her desires. When successful women around us provide a foundation for another woman to succeed, they refer to it as women empowerment. The superwoman in my life is my mother. While my brother and I were young, my mother worked and managed both us and the household with such grace. She never quit her job for household responsibilities and never let us feel any shortage while pursuing her interests. My mother always encouraged me to fulfill my dreams. Now, when I shoot for ‘Navari Mile Hitlerla,’ she manages our grooming salon business, which is inspiring for me. This Women’s Day, let’s remember to respect women, empower them, and acknowledge that this day is not just for men but for women."

Akshaya Hindalkar, Punha Kartavya Ahe
They say that a woman is a marvelous creation. Today, women are actively engaged in various fields and manage both work and home responsibilities. This itself is a significant achievement. Ultimately, everything converges into women empowerment; we rarely hear about men’s empowerment. The superwomen in my life are my grandmother, mother, and sister. They are my inspiration, which is why I have reached this point. My mother always says that it may take time for something to manifest, but eventually, everything turns out well. This year, Women’s Day holds special significance for me because I portray a mother’s role in my new series “Punha Kartavya Aahe.” I urge women to do what they believe is right but to remain true to themselves. Your strength lies within you. Women empowerment harbors the capacity for new creations.

Dakshata Joil, Saara Kahi Tichyasathi
A woman often juggles multiple responsibilities, and in fulfilling them, she finds her own happiness. Authenticity is essential in maintaining integrity, which is inherent in women empowerment. Since childhood, I have regarded my mother as a superwoman because she has uplifted everything from nothing. I firmly believe that rather than celebrating just a special day, dividing household responsibilities equally between men and women would bring about much-needed order. If this happens in the future, terms like women empowerment or gender equality will truly make sense."

Sharayu Sonawane, Paru
Women empowerment is a powerful and inspiring concept. Nowadays, the meaning of this word is becoming more apparent because women are progressing much more than before. In the past, women were underestimated, and their decisions were often ignored. Although some still underestimate women today, women are fighting for their rights. Women work side by side with men in various fields, maintaining a balance. My lifelong friends and superwomen are my mother and sister. I share everything with them, and they always listen to me. Their actions inspire me greatly. I believe Women’s Day shouldn’t be just one day because women face numerous challenges in their lives. Giving birth, managing homes and careers independently, these are all things that women juggle effortlessly. Sometimes, amidst their daily lives, they forget to inspire and respect themselves.

Purva Kaushik, Shiva
To me, women empowerment means that women often possess more resilience than men. Secondly, with women becoming more independent nowadays, they no longer need anyone’s validation and can work with pride. I wish to convey this message. I have never thought about it, but I have two superwomen in my life whom I love dearly, my mother-in-law and wife. They are both disciplined and independent. I always try to learn something from them, and they have taught me valuable lessons throughout my life. I feel that having a separate special day is unnecessary because every individual, be it a woman or a man, faces problems in their life. Then why don’t we appreciate each other in our daily lives?

Khushbu Tawde, Sarang Kahi Tichyasathi
Women empowerment exists within every woman or man, but its application varies. This power is what drives the world forward. For many years, I have regarded the women in my life as superwomen. My mother and sister have always been my inspiration, but now, after thirty years, I want to give myself the title of a superwoman. This is because I have achieved so much, from building a career to establishing a family, and I am content with myself. Women who are happy and successful always seem like superwomen to me. Respect for women should be an everyday occurrence because it enlightens minds and imparts knowledge about various aspects of life.
