Jhumma Mitra, who plays Padma in Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Studio LSD’s Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyaya: Shiv Shakti, is happy with how her career has shaped, and said, “I have had a long and fruitful career with God’s grace, it has not been an overnight success but a slow, steady, and gradual progress.”
“I would like to think that today I am known as a good performer by my colleagues and the casting fraternity, and that, I think, is an achievement,” she added.
Jhumma believes ambition, drive, patience, and discipline are important, especially in an unstable and insecure profession like acting. She added, “And I personally feel that with these few factors, one can excel in life, not just a career.”
She also said that, though she would love to grab every opportunity as it comes, that is not practically possible. So what do you do when you have multiple opportunities offered? “This is the most stressful part, as at times we tend to get into such situations when we have to choose, so for me, the factors that I take into consideration are the channel/medium, the production house and its reputation, the longevity of my character and its importance in the show or story, the scope of performance, anything different character wise, and of course, the monetary gains from the project,” she said.
She also mentioned that the environment and the bonding on set are two of the most important factors that can make or break an actor’s performance. She added, “Good bonding will always help enhance and improve a scene, whereas a bad environment on set will never make an actor comfortable giving his or her 100%.”
