As the 13th edition of Rajnigandha presents Jagran Film Festival (JFF) returns to Delhi from September 4th to 7th, 2025, the stage will host some of the most compelling conversations in cinema today. On September 7th, the spotlight will turn towards Kajol and filmmaker Umesh Bist, who will come together for an exclusive discussion ahead of the release of their highly anticipated series, The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha Season 2, premiering September 19th on JioHotstar.
At the heart of Season 2 is Noyonika, Kajol’s character, whose journey reflects the dilemmas faced by many women, striving to balance career, family, and personal choices in a world that constantly tests them. Moving beyond the frame of a courtroom drama, the series examines ambition, integrity, and resilience, raising questions that feel both urgent and universal. The conversation at the festival will place these themes in the larger context of how Indian storytelling is evolving to portray women with greater honesty, depth, and complexity.
Speaking about stepping into Noyonika’s shoes once again, Kajol said, “Noyonika is a woman who speaks to so many of us; she is strong, vulnerable, flawed, and real. What excites me about Season 2 is that it digs deeper into the conflicts women face while trying to do justice to every role in life. I believe that Jagran Film Festival is the perfect space to open up this conversation, because its audiences don’t just watch stories, they understand and engage with the story and the characters, and I am looking forward to meeting such an audience at the festival.”

Director Umesh Bist added, “For me, The Trial is more than just a legal drama; it’s also about how women navigate family, career, and personal choices. Having a conversation about the show and the women-centric narratives that are being highlighted in today’s time at the Jagran Film Festival is special because the festival has always celebrated stories that reflect society and spark conversations, and that is what The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha Season 2 is set to do with its release on JioHotstar on 19th September, 2025.”
The session is expected to be one of the most thought-provoking chats of the festival—where storytelling meets lived experience, and where cinema sparks a dialogue on women, their journeys, and the choices that shape them.
