Rarely does a film come along in Marathi cinema that doesn’t just tell a story on screen but sparks a movement in the hearts of its audience. KrantiJyoti Vidyalaya – Marathi Medium is doing exactly that. Technically strong and emotionally powerful, the film was made on a budget of ₹6.5 crore and has already crossed ₹20 crore at the box office, marking a significant milestone. This success is not just about numbers—it is about emotions.
Since its release, audiences have embraced the film wholeheartedly. The honesty of its narrative, the bond between teachers and students, and the self-respect of Marathi-medium schools have deeply resonated with viewers. Across the state, many schools and teachers have taken the initiative to organise special group screenings. Teachers and former students are watching the film together, often turning these screenings into reunions. The film has infused fresh confidence among Marathi people, teachers, and students alike. By breaking the inferiority complex associated with Marathi-medium schools, it has rekindled pride in “our school, our language, and our identity.” The thunderous applause after screenings, the emotional faces, and the renewed sense of belief in people’s eyes clearly reflect the film’s impact.

Speaking about the overwhelming response, director Hemant Dhome says, “While making this film, we had just one thing in mind—to tell the story of Marathi schools honestly. Seeing students, teachers, and parents draw strength from this film makes me feel that this awakening will eventually reach the education system as well. Our only hope and intention behind this film was that Marathi schools should survive, flourish, and continue for future generations.”
The film features a powerful ensemble cast including Sachin Khedekar, Amey Wagh, Siddharth Chandekar, Kshitee Jog, Kadambari Kadam, Harish Dudhade, Nirmiti Sawant, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, and Prajakta Koli. Produced under the banner of Chalchitra Mandali, the film is written and directed by Hemant Dhome, with Kshitee Jog as the producer. The co-producers are Viraj Gavas, Urfi Kazmi (Crazy Few Films), and Ajinkya Dhamal.
