Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi was conferred the prestigious Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2026, as announced and presented by Hridaynath Mangeshkar, at a ceremony in Pune that felt as much like remembrance as recognition. Held on the 84th death anniversary of Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, the evening carried a quiet emotional weight. In the music, in the silences, and in the pauses between words, one could sense the lingering presence of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle — not in grandeur, but in grace. As if their blessings flowed through the very notes that filled the space, just as their father’s legacy continues to guide it. Organised by the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan and Hridayesh Arts, in association with Sakal Group, the ceremony continued its tradition of honouring individuals whose work creates a lasting imprint on society. The evening was also graced by the presence of Usha Mangeshkar, Bharti Mangeshkar, Adinath Mangeshkar, Baiju Mangeshkar and Ravindra Joshi, whose presence added to the sense of continuity and collective memory. Positioned as a Bhav Gandharva tribute, the evening stood as a reflection of a legacy that is not merely remembered, but lived — through discipline, devotion, and a deep respect for art. Alongside the top honour, several distinguished personalities were felicitated across categories. Mahesh Kale was honoured for music, Shama Bhate for dance, Subodh Bhave for theatre and cinema, and Prajakta Mali for cinema. Sushil Kulkarni was recognised for journalism, Achyut Godbole for literature, while Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar received a Special Award. Anand Bhagwat of Vasundhara Sanjeevani Mandal, Thane, was honoured for social service. A Vishesh Puraskar was awarded to Mohan Agashe for his outstanding contribution to theatre and cinema. The ‘Mohan Wagh Award for Best Theatre Production’ was presented to Jigisha Ashtavinayak’s play Bhumika, starring Sachin Khedekar, with producers Dilip Jadhav and Shripad Padmakar also being felicitated.

The highlight of the evening remained the conferment of the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award (5th year) upon Kailash Satyarthi — recognising his extraordinary global contribution towards child rights and social justice. In that moment, the honour felt like more than an award. It felt like a value being acknowledged.
A special musical presentation titled “Mee Lata Dinanath…” curated and presented by Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar became the emotional core of the evening, bringing alive the spirit of Lata Didi with quiet dignity. The tribute featured performances by Vibhavari Joshi, Madhura Datar, Savani Ravindra, Shreyasi Pavgi, Manisha Nischal, Rutuja Tare and Dr. Unmesh Karmarkar — each voice adding to an atmosphere that stayed with the audience long after the performances ended. Held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Ganesh Kala Krida Mandir, Swargate, Pune, the ceremony was compered by Milind Kulkarni, with Supriya Chitnis as the announcer — closing an evening that did not just conclude, but lingered.
