This year marks the 16th anniversary of “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na”! How does it feel to be part of a film that’s still cherished by audiences after so many years? Has the film’s message about love and friendship influenced your own views on relationships?
Oh, it feels surreal to be part of a film that even after 16 years feels so fresh to the audience. In fact, I’m somehow getting more love for Meghna now than I got when the film was first released. Somehow, the character grew on people over the years, and they are understanding Meghna and her vulnerabilities more deeply now than they did back then. I’ve seen so many Instagram posts and reels, especially in the past two years, where people have written open letters to Meghna, and they are so heartwarming. It really moves me to see that a character I was fortunate enough to play still resonates with people after 16 years and is fresh in their minds. The film did influence my views on love and relationships. Haha, I even tried to think about a very close male friend romantically, even though I had no romantic feelings for him! Because how amazing would it be to fall in love with your best friend, right? But that was such a bad idea! Honestly, in real life, if love naturally blossoms between two friends, there can be nothing better. But not all male and female friendships are meant to brew into full-blown romance.
