The movement for the establishment of a Marathi-speaking state, known as Sanyukt Maharashtra, gained momentum in post-independence India. This movement was one of the prominent struggles in the history of Maharashtra till date. Many such movements occurred during the anti-British era, but this one was unique. As a result, Maharashtra attained statehood on May 1, 1960. Today, to commemorate Maharashtra Day appropriately, Kalyani Pictures and Abhita Films have announced the film Sanyukt Maharashtra. The tagline reads ‘Power versus Pride’z Sunil Shelke is the producer of the film. Scheduled for release in 2025, this film is expected to captivate audiences with its portrayal of the significant events of that time.
Regarding the film, producer Sunil Shelke says, “This movement for Sanyukt Maharashtra has been one of the biggest struggles in Maharashtra’s history to date. It encompassed political, literary, cultural, and intellectual aspects. Our endeavor with this film is to depict it accurately.”
