Marathi Stalwarts Anil Gawas & Sunil Tawde Elevate Anupama’s Navratri Track

The nation’s favorite show Anupama, helmed by Deepa Shahi and Rajan Shahi, is all set to captivate viewers with its upcoming Navratri track, promising high drama, cultural grandeur, and unexpected twists. Adding immense gravitas to this storyline are two revered names from the Marathi film, television, and theatre world — Anil Gawas and Sunil Tawde — appearing in impactful cameo roles that are already generating excitement among fans.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Konkan during Navratri, the sequence brings alive authentic cultural celebrations with stunning visuals, local traditions, and a suspenseful undertone. For the first time on Indian television, audiences will witness the traditional Maharashtrian ritual “ghagar-fukane”, where women blow into an earthen or metal pot (ghagar) as part of festive worship. To amplify the spectacle, a special folk dance troupe has been specially assembled, infusing energy and authenticity into the sequence.

Anil Gawas, celebrated for his powerhouse performances across Marathi films, theatre, and digital platforms, has impressed audiences with acclaimed projects like Lapachhapi and Malaal. Equally esteemed, Sunil Tawde brings his multi-decade experience in cinema and television, with notable works including Lai Jhakaas and Zabardast. Together, their entry not only enriches the Konkan Navratri track with cultural depth but also injects high-voltage drama, ensuring every scene leaves a lasting impact.

Commenting on the casting, the makers said, “Bringing Anil Gawas and Sunil Tawde on board was a natural choice. Both are stalwarts of the Marathi industry, and their decades of experience in theatre, film, and television bring authenticity, gravitas, and intensity to this track.”

Beyond the festive celebrations, the track introduces new characters crucial to unraveling the mystery of Samar’s death, with Gawas and Tawde’s roles promising several unexpected twists and turns that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

With this compelling combination of veteran talent, authentic regional rituals, and dramatic storytelling, Anupama’s Navratri sequence promises to be one of the most visually stunning, culturally rich, and emotionally charged tracks in the show’s history.
