Meethe Mein Kya Hai To Stream on Netflix from October 3

This Diwali, a story of family, togetherness and the quiet ways in which relationships can change is set to find its way to audiences with debutant director Radhika Bansal announcing her movie Meethe Mein Kya Hai. Starring Ritwik Bhowmik, Rohini Hattangadi, Ayesha Raza Mishra, Abhay Kaul, Tarana Raja, Gaurav K Sharma, Vikram Bakshi among others, the film’s story unfolds over four days of Diwali celebrations and is set to stream on Netflix from October 30, just in time for the festive season. The makers have unveiled the film’s first poster, offering a glimpse into the festive world of a feel-good, light-hearted family drama presented by Utthan Capital and produced by Ajit Mohan.

Bringing an entire household together in a single frame, the poster captures the warmth and bustle of a family gathering during the festive season. A slice of life told with humour and heart, Meethe Mein Kya Hai is rooted in everyday relationships, familiar family dynamics and the comfort of being together, along with time-to-time doses of drama. Made to be watched together, it is a gentle, feel-good film with something for every age group in the room, across generations and demographics.

For Radhika Bansal, Meethe Mein Kya Hai marks an unconventional beginning to her filmmaking journey. She initially turned to writing as a way to keep a journal but soon found herself fictionalising personal experiences rather than writing directly about herself. The exercise led to her first screenplay, a legal drama that attracted interest from major streaming platforms but was never greenlit. The experience, however, encouraged her to continue writing. She went on to write Meethe Mein Kya Hai in under three months and took on the challenge of directing it despite having never stepped onto a film set before. Setting herself a year to bring the project to life, she completed the film in eleven months.

The film also brings together seasoned performers and fresh faces. Rohini Hattangadi, who won a BAFTA for Gandhi and is remembered for Saaransh, Arth and Agneepath, is joined by Ritwik Bhowmik, known for Bandish Bandits, The Whistleblower and Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, and Ayesha Raza Mishra, seen in Veere Di Wedding, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. Tarana Raja, who has appeared in Sitaare Zameen Par, completes the familiar names, alongside Abhay Kaul, Dalai, Vikram Bakshi, Shivika Rishi, Gaurav K. Sharma, Ayuushman Ghai and Kanikka Kapur. With Meethe Mein Kya Hai centred on family bonds, togetherness and the little moments that bring people closer, the film offers a refreshing addition to the festive entertainment lineup. It streams on Netflix from October 30. Trailer to follow soon.
