Miam Charitable Trust and Nitu Joshi Empower Tribal Women in Maharashtra

In a significant initiative aimed at transforming lives in Maharashtra’s tribal regions, Miam Charitable Trust, under the leadership of social worker Nitu Joshi, is working relentlessly to empower and uplift tribal women - especially those who are single mothers or facing neglect due to alcohol addiction among men in their communities.

In these remote areas, many women are left to raise their children on their own as alcoholism among men remains rampant. Recognizing this social issue, the Trust is helping these women find their voice, become independent, and gain the confidence to speak publicly and participate in community affairs.

Nitu Joshi shared, “During a recent public gathering in Gadchiroli, tribal women boldly addressed a crowd that included politicians, administrators, and locals. This was a proud moment, showcasing how far they’ve come. We have been providing training to help them express themselves fearlessly and clearly.”

Beyond public speaking, the Trust also supports education for underprivileged children - particularly orphans and students preparing for competitive exams. Through the distribution of free books and payment of school fees, Nitu Joshi continues to help children from tribal and farming communities receive quality education.

Under Joshi’s dedicated leadership, Miam Charitable Trust is laying the foundation for a stronger, more inclusive society - one where tribal women are empowered, their voices amplified, and their futures transformed.
