Anchor Mohammed Nagaman Lateef is increasingly finding himself in front of the camera. Known for leading the talent wing of Ekta Kapoor across film, television and digital divisions, Lateef is now gaining attention as the host of his chat show Honestly, Why Not? with MNL, which is returning with its second season.
Speaking about the buzz around acting offers coming his way, Lateef said, “I’m currently anchoring Season 2 of my chat show, and it’s shaping up really well with the inclusion of Bollywood actors. Yes, I have been receiving acting offers, and I’m open to exploring them. I’m enjoying being on camera and would love to take that forward.”
Sharing what viewers can expect from the new season, he added, “Season 2 is going to be exciting and diverse. You’ll see couples, controversial personalities, people you love and those you truly admire. It’s a mix of stories and individuals from different walks of life.”
On the kind of roles he is open to, Nagaman expressed confidence in his potential. “I’m open to strong and meaningful acting roles. Some people say I could be like Ram Kapoor on Indian television, but I believe I can bring something even more unique.” His interest in comedy is equally strong. “I would absolutely love to do a comedy role, especially if it’s with Binaiferr Kohli. I’m a huge fan of her work, and it would be amazing to make my comedy debut with her.”
Lateef, “I’m open to all kinds of acting opportunities, whether it’s a lead or a significant character. It feels great that people are noticing my talent now. In my 30s, I feel like I’m just getting started, and that’s a wonderful feeling.”
Known for his candid nature, he admitted that being straightforward does not always work in his favor. “Being spontaneous and direct can sometimes be misunderstood as rudeness. But I simply react to situations as they come. If I don’t like something, I’m honest about it.” When it comes to reality shows, Lateef prefers to be selective. “I’m open to doing reality shows, but I would choose carefully. I’ve received offers before, but not every show aligns with what I want to do.” On association with Ekta Kapoor he says, “Ekta Kapoor is like a mentor. It’s my dream to work with her as an actor too. As a professional I am already working with her. She has done few ads and she is camera friendly and gives wide variation in expressions and she finishes her bit timely and effortlessly. More brands are reaching out for her. She is the real diva of the entertainment industry.”
