Mukesh Rishi: A powerful voice is built with discipline, not just talent

Veteran actor Mukesh Rishi, currently seen in Sphereorigins’ Salakaar as Pakistani General Zia-ul-Haq, is admired for his powerful screen presence and commanding baritone. He says his voice is not merely a natural gift but the outcome of consistent effort.

“I work hard for it, I practice for it, and I follow it with regular discipline. Whether it’s the body or the voice—if you keep practicing, if you give them respect, the results will always show,” he shared.

With a career spanning over three decades, Rishi admits that some characters have stayed with him long after the films were over. Recalling performances in SarfaroshIndian, and Sooryavansham, he explained that each role had its own distinct arc and atmosphere.

“When you get a role, you realize it is different—it carries its own energy and style of expression. Like in life, you meet thousands of people but only a few remain close friends. Similarly, some roles stay with you. I feel Salakaar will be one of them,” he shared.
