Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Zee), a leading powerhouse in content and technology, proudly announces the launch of ‘Zee Writers’ Room’ – a landmark initiative aimed at discovering and nurturing the next generation of screenwriters across India.
Driven by Zee’s central content and regional teams, this initiative serves as a bridge between the evolving needs of India’s entertainment industry and the untapped talent pool across the country. The launch of ‘Zee Writers’ Room’ was marked by a moving brand film released in seven Indian languages, with the core message: “Creating Tomorrow’s Storytellers.” The campaign captures a unified vision for the future of storytelling.
Rolled out across 80 cities and 32 program centers, the initiative is backed by a powerful on-air, digital, and on-ground promotional campaign. The objective is to identify talented storytellers in Marathi, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, offering them a unique opportunity to join a collaborative writers’ room where creativity, discipline, and craft can thrive.
Raghavendra Hunsur, Chief Creative Officer, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., said, “As one of India’s leading storytellers, nurturing the next generation of writing talent is not just an opportunity—it is our responsibility. At Zee, we believe our true strength lies not just in the stories we tell, but in the storytellers we nurture. Through ‘Zee Writers’ Room’, we are building a platform where authentic voices, unheard ideas, and honest emotions can find form. This program is not a competition—it is our commitment to provide aspiring writers across every corner of India with the tools, mentorship, and confidence to create impactful, timeless stories across all screens, regions, and genres. Empowering new creative voices with skill, courage, and opportunity—that is the future of storytelling.”
Kartik Mahadev, Chief Marketing Officer, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., added, “Through ‘Zee Writers’ Room’, we’re taking another step forward in our brand’s promise—focusing on the development of exceptional storytelling and building a community of writers who will help us narrate diverse and distinctive stories. This is a platform that opens doors for those with a genuine fire for writing, transforming them into tomorrow’s storytellers.”

Samrat Ghosh, Chief Cluster Officer – East, North, and Premium Cluster, said, “Bengal has always been a hub for literary and cinematic brilliance. With ‘Zee Writers’ Room’, we’re creating a modern platform for aspiring Bengali storytellers to discover their voice and develop stories that celebrate both the richness of tradition and the sharpness of modernity.”
Siju Prabhakaran, Chief Cluster Officer – South and West Cluster, said, “South and West India are home to some of the most vibrant and creative storytelling traditions. ‘Zee Writers’ Room’ will bring new energy and originality to content creation across TV, OTT, and film. This initiative is specially designed for writers with a spark—whether self-taught or formally trained—those who have stood out in college festivals, writing clubs, or digital platforms but are yet to break into the entertainment industry. This is not about teaching the basics of writing, but about shaping capable writers into professional screenwriters with structured development of their skills.”
Zee is committed to transforming 70 emerging writers and 30 promising expert writer-creators into a powerful idea-generation engine for TV, OTT, and films. These writers will develop original stories, compelling worlds, impactful characters, and strong narratives for Zee’s content portfolio.
