Neha Pardeshi, who is currently playing the role of Radha in Kaamdhenu Gaumata, which is being produced by Prem Sagar and Shiv Sagar’s Sagar World Multimedia, was ecstatic when she was offered to play the role of Radha in the show. Kaamdhenu Gaumata will air on Star Bharat from mid-August. Talking about her character, she said, “The moment I heard that I was going to play Radha, I just paused, and honestly, I had goosebumps. Somewhere deep in my heart, it was one of my biggest wishes because I have always been deeply connected to Krishna. I am a Krishna bhakt, and he holds a very, very special place in my life. Since childhood, I have been drawn to Krishna. He has been my guide, my strength, my everything. And deep down, I always wished that someday, somehow, I could be Radha—not just on screen, but spiritually, emotionally, and soulfully.” “I never imagined that wish would actually come true. So when the offer came, I was over the moon—not just on cloud nine, but ten, eleven, and beyond. It was such a big dream of mine, and it actually happened. When you’re so close to Krishna, your soul yearns for him, and getting to play Radha felt like Krishna himself chose me for this. It felt like Krishna had written this part into my destiny. It was surreal. My heart was full, and I couldn’t stop smiling. I was almost in tears. I feel incredibly lucky and chosen. To be given that chance as an actor and as a believer is truly the most magical thing ever,” she added. She further said that for her Radha is not just a character and added, “She is an emotion, a feeling I have carried in my heart for years.” Though she shared that preparing for a role like Radha was exciting, she also admitted that it was challenging. She said, “To be honest, portraying Radha felt less like preparation and more like a spiritual journey. I remember when I was called for the audition, Prem sir gave me a very beautiful brief. Initially, I had a completely different image of Radha in my mind—maybe influenced by what we commonly see or imagine. But when I met Prem sir, everything shifted.” “He gave me a completely different perspective. He said to me, very clearly, Radha is not what you’re thinking. Radha would not smile like this. She would not speak like this. He explained who Radha truly is—her essence, her devotion, her stillness, and her strength. That one brief from Prem Sir shifted something inside me. It changed everything for me,” she added.
Neha also revealed that Prem’s brief dismantled her earlier version of Radha and introduced her to her true essence—her purity, her quiet strength. She said, “It helped me see Radha not just as a mythological figure but as a living energy. That gave me the clarity and emotional grounding to give my best in the audition. Radha is not just a historical or mythological character. She is pure devotion. So I tried to shift from performance to presence. I wanted her grace, strength, and unconditional love for Krishn to reflect in my eyes, my voice, and my every gesture.” “Sometimes, I would just close my eyes and imagine how Radha would walk, how she would look at Krishn, and how she would feel in moments of separation and union. So I began with research, of course. I read scriptures and explored different portrayals of Radha, music, and art. I wanted to understand her from every angle—as a lover, a devotee, a woman, and a divine force. I didn’t want to just act like Radha. I wanted to feel her,” she added.
She also mentioned that portraying Radha is not about external performance. “I worked a lot on internalizing her emotions—her purity, her silent strength, and her spiritual longing. I practiced facial stillness, eye expressions, and body language. And somewhere, I feel I didn’t just play Radha—I lived a small piece of her story,” Neha ended.
