Nidhi Shetty, who is seen as Gia in Ishika Shahi’s web series Jabb Zodiacs Met, which has been produced by Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut Production, is all praise for Ishika and shared that the concept felt fresh, which drew her to the project.
She said, “From the very first time Ishika narrated the story to me and explained how each zodiac sign has different traits, I was completely hooked. It was not a usual project, and that made it very exciting for me. The idea that every zodiac has someone who is meant for them and someone who may not be was very interesting and fun to explore as an actor.”
Though she is a Pisces in real life and plays a gemini in the series, she found some emotional similarities between the two, and that connected her to her role. She said, “While Pisces is more dreamy and creative, Cancer is deeply emotional and nurturing. As a person, I do have that emotional side, so somewhere I could connect with my character on a human level, even if the zodiac traits are different.”
She further shared that her character values relationships and is always there for her people, and so is she in real life. She said, “I’m a mixture of Pisces and a Gemini . I’m expressive and social, and I have a lot of friends. I don’t just have one best friend—my friends are like family, and I’m always there for them whenever they need me.”
However, Nidhi revealed that it was challenging to portray emotions that are influenced by astrology. She said, “Astrology is abstract, and I didn’t want it to feel like a horoscope reading. The emotions had to feel natural and human, not predicted.”
“It’s easy to blame the stars and say, ‘This isn’t working because my stars aren’t aligned,’ but I didn’t want everything to be blamed on astrology. The emotions had to come from the characters, not just the zodiac signs,” she added.
A firm believer in destiny, she feels that when people are meant to meet, they will meet no matter where they are or what they are doing. She said, “It just happens. But to make a relationship work and sustain it, both people have to put in effort and work hard at it. Destiny may bring two people together, but effort is what keeps them together.”
She also admitted that working on the show changed her thinking in many ways. She said, “Earlier, I would wonder why I didn’t connect well with certain people in real life. After doing this show and reading more about zodiac signs, I realized that sometimes traits just don’t match, or people can be very different in how they think and feel.”
“It helped me understand that compatibility is not just about attraction but also about emotional understanding and balance,” she added.
If the stars could guide her next role, she would like to do something unusual and darker. She said, “In this show, there was a mix of light comedy and romance, but now I want to explore a darker space. I don’t mind doing a horror or even a psychotic role. I think it would be exciting to explore that side of myself as an actor.”
Nidhi concluded by calling Ishika a fearless woman. She said, “She knows what she wants, but at the same time, she is very open to ideas that people come to her with. She creates a very comfortable space to work in. She has a very modern approach to many things and ideas.”
“This is her first project and script, and the story she has come up with is so unique. It’s not something people get to watch every day, and that’s the best thing about it,” she shared.
