Nikhil Nanda: There is very little use of cellphones

Actor-producer Nikhil Nanda says that though he remembers that summer holidays are a thing of childhood, of late he has started taking long breaks. He said, “For a long time after I started working, summer vacation used to be a thing of my childhood, but for the last 7 years I have started taking long vacations of almost a month where I take my family and go out, and yes, there is very little use of the telephone."

He shared that he and his family take 3–4 days off every quarter, but pointed out that adults don’t take long vacations unless they are made to. “People only take long vacations now when they are forced to. The other thing we do is that every quarter we take 3–4 days of vacation, and at times we also take a weekend break on a monthly basis,” he said.

He also mentioned that, though small vacations don’t require any preparation, a lot of planning goes into taking long vacations. He added, “We all sit and decide where and which place we have to go, what things to do, and how we will keep ourselves active. We decide whether we have to go to the beach, city, or explore history.”

What about your phones during the holidays? “We keep them on mute, and unless anything is urgent, we don’t head on a call while we are on vacation.”
