Nikkhil Arya, popular for his roles in successful shows like Kesar, Kasturi, Tere Liye, and Kumkum Bhagya, is all set for his upcoming release, the Marathi film Gulaabi. The movie revolves around three women from different generations, and the actor plays a key role in their lives. He said, “I get a chance to be a part of at least two of their journeys; hence, I interact with two diametrically opposite generations. The fact that it’s a completely positive role—soft, stern, authoritative, and philosophical at the same time—gives me an opportunity to display a range of emotions,” says the versatile actor, who has done it all on Hindi television over the past twenty-five years. He further shared that the movie imparts an important message: life never stops for anyone, and change is the only constant. Born and brought up in Pune, it was easy for him to speak Marathi. He added, “The Marathi culture has been a great influence on me, embracing the arts from a young age and shaping my journey to becoming an actor. Also, working with such beautiful people helps in picking up the nuances, especially since I have been doing mainstream Hindi projects for the longest time.” Gulaabi was primarily shot in the Pink City, Jaipur. Nikkhil shared that the director of the movie, Abhyangh Kuvalekar, a friend, was making his directorial debut. “It was his vision to cast me, and it was a pleasure and an honor to work with experienced co-stars like Mrinal Kulkarniji, who constantly shared valuable insights with me,” he said. “It was an extremely professional setup, which I always appreciate. When you work with a like-minded and fun unit, in a beautiful location, with loads of authentic dal-bati to eat, many memorable moments are created,” he added. What’s next? “Exploring different genres and hopefully getting the chance to portray content that is constantly challenging and fulfilling,” Nikkhil concluded.
