Not just romance but also understanding and a deep connection is what Nivedita Basu looks for in a relationship. Nivedita (senior VP group Atrangii), says that this is the secret behind a marriage survival in today’s world.
“More than the romance associated with love, the definition of love for us is more about understanding one another and being compatible with each other. The feelings of infatuation and the initial spark of love die down in a marriage after a certain point, but the ease, comfort, and warmth that love brings with it remains eternal,” she says.
Days such as Valentine’s Day have never been big for Nivedita. “Since we started dating, we never really made a big deal about Valentine’s. All days are special for us! Valentine’s is more for the younger people,” she says.
She says that the feelings associated with love evolve after marriage. “Love begins with sexual tension, attraction, and passion; and slowly transforms into an everlasting connection. After marriage, a lot of other things take precedence. So, I think if you maintain that respect for each other and understanding, your love can prolong. For me now, celebration of love is celebrating my kids, and my family as an entity,” she says.
