Popular actress and television personality Delnaaz Irani has always been known for her infectious energy, warmth, and love for people—and now, she’s bringing all of that and more to the table, quite literally, with her latest venture: Swaad Aur Sitare With Delnaaz. The food-cum-chat show blends her passion for food and conversations, where she visits restaurants across Mumbai, shares meals with celebrity guests, and engages in candid, unscripted conversations.
Talking about the origin of the show, Delnaaz says, “I wanted the show to be very natural and very organic—like two people going on a casual food date, where conversations just flow. We talk about the food we eat, the memories it brings, our personal tastes… and that’s why I think Swaad Aur Sitare is the perfect name. I love people, and I love to feed people.”
The concept is as unique as it is heartwarming. Each episode sees Delnaaz trying out different restaurants—some based on her celeb guests’ preferences and others chosen for their distinct offerings. “Sometimes I don’t get to pick the restaurant myself, but I believe each place has its own flavour and charm. For instance, I’m not really into thalis, but when Apara Mehta came on the show, I took her to a place that served amazing thalis because that’s what she loves. The comfort of my guests comes first.”
Diet-conscious celebrities weren’t left behind either. “A few actors were on strict diets, so I picked cafes with healthy juices and salads. The idea is to create a space where food and conversation go hand in hand, no matter the menu,” she shares.
The show is completely unscripted, which is part of its charm. “People don’t believe it, but we don’t follow any script. Even if I fumble as a host, I let it be natural—because that’s real. Some parts of me wish it was more structured, but the spontaneity brings magic.”
In an upcoming episode, Nyrraa M Banerji would be joining Delnaaz. “Nyrraa and I recently worked together in a play called #Akbar@Birbal. We bonded over food during rehearsals, so it felt natural to have her on the show. She’s such a foodie, so full of life and so talented. We had a blast shooting the episode. She even described the dishes we ate in Bengali—it was such a fun and flavourful shoot!”
With the first season ongoing, Delnaaz teases that there’s more to come. “Each episode brings its own unique taste and flavour—both literally and emotionally. In Season 2, we’ll dive even deeper into new cuisines, locations, and meaningful conversations. This show truly reflects who I am: someone who loves food, fun, and connecting with people.”
