Pallavi Chatterjee is known for her illustrious career in Bengali films, television, and theatre. Last seen in Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, she will next be seen in Nikhil Advani’s The Revolutionaries and Shawlwala.
We asked her: In a profession filled with unpredictability, how important are discipline and consistency in shaping an actor’s journey? She says, “It’s very important to be disciplined and never stop exploring, rediscovering, and learning from others. Consistency matters more than motivation.”
Talking about the daily routines she follows to stay grounded and focused, she says, “I always do things that give me immense satisfaction. I try to do four or five things that I would do even if I weren’t an actor. The most important thing for me is to stay human, grounded, humble, and grateful.”
How do you maintain consistency in your work, especially during hectic schedules and long shooting hours? She shares, “Actually, this balancing act becomes a part of your life once you work in our industry for 25 years. Being disciplined in life is important, or else I wouldn’t have lasted in this industry for so long. All that glitters is not gold, and that’s the only truth. There is a lot of hard work, serious business, money, and time involved. And above all, a lot of passion and emotion goes into creating any kind of audio and video content.”
So, what advice would you give aspiring actors about building discipline and staying consistent in their craft? On this, she says, “Today’s kids are far more mature and intelligent than us. In fact, I wouldn’t mind taking some advice from them! If I have to say something to them, it would be: keep patience, and always believe in God and in yourself.”
