Actor, writer, director, and producer Pallavi Chatterjee, who was recently seen in Khakee: The Bengal Chapter and will next be featured in The Revolutionaries, recently opened up about one of the most touching fan experiences of her career.
Recalling her days in Jatra, the popular folk theatre form performed across rural Bengal, Pallavi shared how a chance meeting with a devoted fan left a lasting impact on her. “One of my most memorable fan experiences happened during my time doing Jatra, a form of theatre performed in rural areas. We used to travel from one place to another and perform nearly 100 shows every season. My performances were quite different because I incorporated motorbike stunts, kickboxing, and a very commercial film-style approach, unlike the traditional religious style of Jatra,” she said.
She went on to narrate an unforgettable incident that took place. “I remember an incident in a place around Bankura or Purulia, where huge crowds would gather under massive tents to watch the shows. After one particular performance, my manager told me that a couple had been waiting to meet me. When I finally met them, the husband told me that his wife was a huge fan of mine and had wanted to take a picture with me. I was deeply moved when I saw that she was paralyzed and that her husband had carried her in his arms all the way there. They had been waiting since the afternoon, while my show ended around 3 am,” Pallavi recalled.
The emotional encounter became even more meaningful when she learned about the couple’s story. “It was a true love story. I invited them into my room to speak with them and spend a little time with them. The husband shared how he took care of his wife every single day after her accident and had even started a small grocery shop near his home so he could always stay close to her. I had never seen such pure and selfless love before,” she said.
Reflecting on the experience, Pallavi admitted that the memory continues to stay with her even today. “Even today, when I think about that moment, my heart melts. That experience truly showed me what real love and human connection mean, and it remains my most unforgettable fan moment,” she added.
