On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Singer Parleen Gill opens up about the deep, unspoken bond he shares with his mother one that has shaped his values, grounded his journey, and quietly supported him through every phase of life.
Calling his mother his “biggest emotional anchor,” Parleen reflects on a relationship built on understanding rather than words. “It’s one of those bonds where a lot is understood without even saying much. Her presence itself gives me a sense of calm and stability, no matter what phase of life I’m going through,” he shares.
For Parleen, the most enduring lesson from his mother has been about staying rooted. “She has always believed that your character and values define you far more than your achievements. That thought has stayed with me and continues to guide me in both my personal and professional life,” he says, emphasising how her quiet wisdom has influenced his choices.
Interestingly, when asked about his most cherished memory, Parleen doesn’t point to a single defining moment. Instead, he recalls the beauty of everyday life. “It’s a collection of small, real moments—her waiting for me after long days, the quiet conversations, the way she would just listen without judging. They may seem small, but they hold the deepest emotions,” he explains.
As he grew older, Parleen admits he began to truly understand the depth of her sacrifices. “You start connecting the dots and realise how much she must have adjusted and sacrificed just to make life easier for you,” he says, acknowledging the silent strength that often goes unnoticed.
Looking back, he wishes he had expressed his feelings more openly. “A simple ‘thank you’ and ‘I love you.’ We feel it deeply, but many times we assume it’s understood and don’t express it enough,” he admits.
Now, Parleen sees Mother’s Day as a reminder to be more grateful and to show his feelings every day, not just once a year.
