The official song for Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati, Pune, has taken devotees and music lovers by storm. With over 2 lakh views in just a week and trending on Instagram, the track has struck a spiritual and emotional chord. We spoke with the team, the heart and soul behind the anthem to understand how this divine melody came to life.
What inspired you to create an official song for Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati?
Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati isn’t just a temple – it’s an emotion. For the past two years, our entire team has been visiting the temple on every Chaturthi without fail. The purity, the crowd’s devotion, the energy during those celebrations – it’s beyond words. That’s what inspired us. We felt such deep emotion that the only way to express it was through music. It was a calling.
How would you sum up the soul of the song in one line?
“You don’t have to worry when Shrimant Dagdusheth Ganpati Bappa is in your heart.”
The music has such a grand and festive feel. What elements did you use to capture the spirit of Ganeshotsav in Pune?
We wanted to recreate the sonic essence of the festival. So we blended traditional Maharashtrian instruments like dhol-tasha, taal, mridang, duff, and tutari with cinematic orchestration. On top of that, we layered modern production elements to give it both spiritual depth and a festive grandeur.

Did the Trust have a particular vision for the project?
Yes, the Trust was clear about a few things – the anthem had to reflect deep devotion, cultural pride, and the global recognition that Dagdusheth Bappa holds. It had to inspire, especially the younger generation, while staying rooted in tradition.
And how did you ensure the song appealed to both traditional devotees and today’s youth?
Balance was key. We kept the traditional rhythms and Marathi lyrics intact, but introduced contemporary sound design and dynamic arrangements. This hybrid made the song relatable to all age groups and especially engaging for younger audiences on digital platforms.
The response has been overwhelming. What do you think connected so well with the audience?
It’s the emotion. People have an unbreakable bond with Dagdusheth Ganpati Bappa. Our song became a mirror – people saw their own devotion reflected in it. The visuals, the melodies, the energy – everything came together to create something that felt familiar yet fresh.

Did you expect this kind of reaction so quickly?
Honestly, we weren’t surprised. Dagdusheth Bappa’s following is massive – not just in Pune but globally. We knew the emotion behind the song was real. But still, watching people make reels, dance to it, and share it with such pride – it’s an overwhelming and beautiful feeling.
What was the biggest challenge during the making of this song?
The biggest challenge was walking the fine line between tradition and innovation. Creating a new devotional melody that sounds modern yet remains authentic to the culture and the legacy of Dagdusheth Bappa was a delicate task.

Any chance we’ll see a live performance during Ganesh Utsav?
Not during the 11-day celebration. The temple is already flooded with devotees 24/7. It’s tough for even the Trust to manage that kind of crowd. But yes – we are planning a live performance post-visarjan, in the temple premises itself.
Can we expect more devotional or culturally rooted music from your team?
Absolutely. The love this song received has motivated us immensely. We’re already exploring other culturally rich themes. The goal is to help people connect with their roots through music that feels both meaningful and current.
