Prateik Chaudhary: I Waited for the Right Time

For actor Prateik Chaudhary, purchasing his first SUV was a well-timed and thoughtful decision. He was never in a rush, choosing instead to wait until he could truly afford it. Opening up about his new car, he shares, “I’ve always liked SUVs, and the Mahindra Thar was definitely on my wishlist. I finally bought the white one. It’s big, bold, and loaded with the latest features. While most people prefer black or red, I wanted something different. The white really stands out and gives it a classy, unique look. When I look at my car, it brings me a lot of peace.”

Speaking about his passion for cars, Prateik adds, “Honestly, I’ve never been too materialistic or overly fancy about cars. But I’ve always preferred SUVs over sedans or other types of vehicles. There’s something about their presence that I really like. Sitting in the driver’s seat gives you a certain royal feeling.”

However, owning a car was never his first priority. Prateik reveals that having his own home came before everything else. “We all know that in Mumbai, owning a home is a big deal. Being a Mumbaikar and coming from a well-settled family, having your own place is very special. I’ve always been independent and never relied on my parents financially. I’ve earned everything on my own. Security was my top priority, so I focused on buying my own home and investing in property first. Once that was done, I felt it was the right time to fulfil my personal wish of owning a car I truly love.”

He also admits that driving in Mumbai isn’t always easy. “I mostly use my car for shoots, going to the gym, or for important work. Otherwise, as we all know, Mumbai traffic can be quite hectic, so I often avoid driving myself and let my driver handle it. I haven’t taken my car on a road trip yet, but I’m hoping to plan something during the monsoon. My friends and family have been encouraging me to take a short trip to places like Lonavala or nearby destinations, but work commitments have kept me from planning anything so far.”

Despite this milestone, Prateik maintains a grounded perspective on material possessions. “I try to keep things very normal. Getting too emotionally attached to material things can affect you if something happens to them. I’m a slightly sensitive and emotional person, so I consciously maintain a balanced approach—no extreme excitement or attachment, just a calm and practical mindset.”
