Pune’s World Book Day to celebrate literature and reading with month long events

Pune’s World Book Day organised by Nukkad Café in association with Pune Municipal Corporation, NHRD Pune Chapter, MIT WPU, Amar Chitra Katha, Goethe Institute, Kitabi Chai, Co-Creators and Company, Raah, Kahaani and  Rainbow Fizz Café  is celebrating World Book Day with month long events. The World Book Day is celebrated every year on April 23. In it’s second year, the Pune’s World Book Day includes author interactions, workshops, storytelling sessions, book launches, movies, book fair, book reading and discussions etc. The initiative started on April 6 and will culminate on April 27. Recently Amar Chitra Katha released a graphic novel ‘Savitribai and Jyotirao Phule’ in a special program as a part of this initiative.

Vaibhav Paliwal, organiser and owner Nukkad Café said that Pune’s World Book Day is a one-of-a-kind book celebration that represents changing eras and evolving generations. The Pune’s World Book Day event honours the written word by providing a venue for people to share their tales, discover different viewpoints, and cultivate the love of reading. The entire intiative is also driven by Pune’s writers and authors and the team consists of key members naming Sonali Rasal, Preeta Bhuyan, Aman Rajabali, Bhupesh Mahajan.

- Journey of Marathi Poetry and Reading of Short Stories by Naresh Gund and Kalandar Pandit on April 20, 5 pm, Rainbow Fizz Café, Kothrud

- Illustration Workshop for Children by Preeta Bhuyan on April 21, 11 am, Nukkad Café, Viman Nagar

- Tell-a-Tale by Saugata Chakraborty on April 21, 11 am, Nukkad Café/CC&Co., Aundh

- Teens Open Mic on April 21, 3 pm, Nukkad Café, Viman Nagar

- Art and Literature Workshop by Sonali Rasal and Nishant Ku. Das on April 21, 5 pm, Nukkad Café, Viman Nagar
