Producer Rahul Kumar Tewary, who is currently producing two television shows Udne Ki Asha and Jagadhatri, speaks about competition as a maker. Both of his shows are in completely different genres and yet both have loyal audiences. On being asked what would be the trends in this year he says, “Content is the King. If the story is logical, audience will accept it. No one had expected that a simple drama revolving around a flower seller girl will click with masses and classes in Udne Ki Asha. Jagadhatri is a story of a special crime branch officer who balances her personal life and work life keeping her real identify a secret while running an NGO and solving cases. I feel there is an audience for everything if the content is simple and logical.” He also adds,”Casting is a very important factor for any good show. I am happy that leads of my shows are getting the love and adoration from the fans, whether it is Kanwar, Neha, Faiman and Samiksha they are getting popular day by day and at the same time they understands their responsibility as actors. Apart from my leads my supporting cast is very rich and extremely talented.”
On being asked if OTT and films are giving competition to TV shows, he says, ”It’s a healthy competition. Audiences have lots of choices to watch compared to before. It is a reality that daily soaps are like daal Chawal which people want to consume like a staple diet. Good daily soaps with good content will always find an audience. It is true that everyone has mobile in their hand and tv shows are available online too and you can watch it anytime unlike before where you had to watch to watch an episode at a specific time. This is a biggest advantage that audiences are watching a daily soap digitally even when they’re travelling and even if you miss an episode. You can binge watch the entire missed episodes in one go. Today’s audience are intelligent and they know what to watch and what not to as they are aware there are plenty of entertainment available online.”
