After delivering memorable shows such as Navya, Phulwa, Meri Sasu Maa, Porus and RadhaKrishn, producer Rahul Kumar Tewary continues to shape prime-time entertainment with Udne Ki Aasha and Jagadhatri. Having worked across family dramas, mythology and historical fiction, Tewary believes Indian television is entering one of its most exciting phases, where traditional broadcasting and digital platforms will increasingly complement each other and redefine the way stories are told.
Speaking about what excites him most about the industry’s future, the producer says the biggest transformation will come from the growing convergence of television and streaming platforms.
“I believe the future of Indian television lies in the convergence of television and digital. That’s the most exciting aspect.”
According to Tewary, audiences today no longer consume content in the same way, and creators must evolve alongside changing viewing habits.
“Broadcasters will increasingly create content that not only appeals to television audiences but also drives digital viewership. Different age groups consume content differently—some still prefer television, while younger audiences primarily watch digitally. Going forward, broadcasters will naturally consider what works across both platforms.”
He believes this evolution presents a significant opportunity for storytellers, allowing them to move beyond conventional television narratives.
“For creators like me, that’s a huge opportunity because we can now create stories for a much wider demographic instead of only traditional television viewers. I think this shift will change the taste of content. It opens the door to fresher storytelling, newer formats and more innovative narratives. It’s an exciting time for content creators.”
Having witnessed Udne Ki Aasha emerge as one of television’s most-loved family dramas, Tewary says the greatest reward has never been ratings or milestones, but the unwavering support of the audience.
“The biggest satisfaction has been the immense love and blessings the show has received from viewers. That’s the most gratifying part.”
Looking back on the show’s journey, he recalls one moment that fundamentally changed its trajectory and strengthened its emotional connection with audiences.
“If I have to identify one turning point, it would be when Sachin and Sayali got married and truly came together as a couple. That completely changed the dynamics of the Deshmukh household, and viewers embraced that phase wholeheartedly. For me, that was the defining moment in the show’s journey.”
As Udne Ki Aasha prepares to enter a new chapter with its upcoming leap and Jagadhatri continues to engage audiences with its gripping twists, Rahul Kumar Tewary remains optimistic about the road ahead. For him, regardless of how technology or viewing habits evolve, compelling characters and emotionally honest storytelling will always remain at the heart of great entertainment.
